Kindergarten and 1st Grade Prep Summer Camp

Kindergarten/1st Grade Prep Tues/Thurs July 3 - August 2, 9:30-11:30

Your child can be reading before they start kindergarten.

Do you want your child to be on the road to reading success when they start school this fall?
Could your child use an academic boost in a super fun environment during the summer?
Do you like to be well informed about what your child did while they where away from you?
Look no further.

Calling all soon to be kindergarten and first grade kiddos!  Join Miss Amanda for an academically based camp to improve your reading, writing, and math skills.  We'll also work on skills that every child needs to have before beginning Kindergarten and 1st grade.  Whether your child needs an introduction of skills,  needs to fill holes in their skills, or needs fine tuning of their skills they will leave this class a more confident reader, writer, and mathematician.  They'll be ready to conquer back to school!

Miss Amanda is a licensed teacher with 12 years of experience who specialized in early reading and math literacy skills.  Miss Amanda creates an innovative, creative, hands-on environment that encourages engagement and confidence.

"My child was extremely prepared for kindergarten.  Her teachers identify her as well-taught.  Miss Amanda was like a child whisperer who brought the best out in my child and provided her with a solid foundation, allowing her to excel in kindergarten."
-Parent of a former student

Miss Amanda is incredible! My son did preschool with her and I couldn't believe how much time she put into her lessons. Many teachers treat preschool as a sort of play date but Miss Amanda saw the potential in our kids and helped them to achieve things that I didn't even realize were possible at such a young age. Highly recommend

Our son attended Pre-k with Ms. Amanda. She immensely helped him get ready for kindergarten! She also taught us as parents what we can do to optimize his learning by working with him away from the classroom. Her teaching methods are exciting and effective for the children! Our only problem was that we didn’t get to send our daughter too!! Her fees are a fraction of the cost of the school district preschool’s fee and are hands down more effective! Thank you Ms.Amanda for all that you do!!

Makerspace Camps

Makerspace (preK and up) is inventing robots and I am so excited to share with kids how to connect basic motors to wheels, propellers, and gears onto their own invented vehicles and robots (made with recycled materials).  They'll be bringing these inventions home to explore more and show you the amazing things they can immediately apply in their own home tinkering time.

I've had requests to clarify what a Makerspace camp means.  I had a blast this morning with a makerspace camp and we made a little video to show you.
The short answer is: Robotics is for coding and programming robots.  Makerspace is for building them.  There are still spots available for Spring and Summer Makerspace camps in Aurora, CO near Quincy and Buckley.  Contact me at InitiateLearningCO@gmail

Spring Break Camps

Though it doesn't feel like it with all this cold Colorado weather, Spring Break is just more than a month away.  Come play with us!

Robotics

Robotics 1

Robotics 1 (preK and up) is an exploration of robots vs. remote controlled cars.  We learn the parts of a robot and how to interact with different sensors on the robot. We use barcodes to program the robot and no code writing is involved in this class.  Kids in this camp receive an Edison robot and a booklet of barcodes that they can continue exploring at home.  The Edison robot can grow with your child through industry level coding.

Robotics 2 and 3

Robotics 2 and 3 (kindergarten and up) are an introduction to drag and drop programming, perfect for anyone interested in coding physical toys.  Kids in Robotics 2 receive an Edison robot that can grow with them through the drag and drop programming and into Python, an industry standard coding language that real adults are using!  Robotics 3 is an expansion of the coding knowledge developed in level 2.

Robotics 4 - STEM EdCreate

Robotics 4 (2nd Grade and up) is the opportunity to tackle a range of engineering, coding, and design challenges.  We'll be adding new pieces to our Edison bots that are compatible with LEGO and will inspire your child to explore and create even more robot solutions once they return home.  This class is for students who are 7-10 years old who have taken Robotics Levels 2 and 3 with me.  Students must bring previously purchased Edison robots to class.  Students in this class will receive a LEGO compatible kit that is theirs to take home.  Most builds in this class require 2 Edison bots to work together.  Students can borrow a second Edison bot from Miss Amanda, bring their own two, work with a sibling, or purchase a second robot ($40) from Miss Amanda or online at MeetEdison.com.

Robotics has become a wonderful part of my life.  After having the pleasure of taking a Carnegie Mellon University course aimed at teachers who are teaching robotics I feel on fire with the love of all things robotics and coding.  I can't wait to share that with you!  I'm currently teaching Elementary Robotics for Cherry Creek School District and I have a number of upcoming SUMMER robotics camps that I'm hosting (not affiliated with Cherry Creek Schools).  Feel free to shoot me an email at InitiateLearningCO@gmail for more information.

Summer Robotics Camps

Time To Get Started!

I ran a preschool for 5 years when my older boys were preschool age.  We had a TON of fun learning together and perfecting the strategies that helped my kids become vivacious readers and excellent mathematicians from the start.  Learning was exciting and I looked forward to working with a great group of kids each week.  After a two year break it's time to announce that our wonderful programming is coming back as well as expanding this year!

Can you believe that the last time I posted about preschool I was THIS pregnant?
Now I have a 1 1/2 year old running around and it's time to start getting the word out that we're coming back!
Tot School for 2 and 3 year olds will start this summer (2018) with a 6 week session!  The long term plan is Tot School for 2/3 year olds for 2018/2019, then Preschool A for 3/4 year olds in 2019/2020, and Preschool B for 4/5 year olds 2020/2021!

It's going to be AMAZING and I can't wait to work with this wonderful age again.  Do you know anyone who'd be interested in joining our class?  Please send them my way! LittleAdventuresPreschool {at} gmail [dot] .... you know the rest if you're not a robot ... right?

Not to be outdone by all the AWESOME that two and three year olds will get to experience with me I am putting together a few SPECTACULAR Spring Break and Summer Camps that will knock the socks off your older kids (PreK-10 years old).  In the works includes ROBOTICS and CODING levels 1-4, Kindergarten Prep (for all those groovy kids starting Kindergarten this fall), Writing Workshop (for writers preK-2nd grade), and an Electronic Tinkering MakerSpace Workshop.  The ideas are blowing me away!  If you have an older kid that I haven't seen in a while I'd love to have you come back and learn and play!  If you've never taken a class from me, now is your chance.  2018 is going to be MARVELOUS!! Let me know what you're interested in at LittleAdventuresPreschool {at} gmail [dot] .... you know the rest if you're not a robot ... right?

I can't wait to get learning with you all!
